Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County is hosting the 30th Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser on April 20th and 21st at the Boardwalk Bowl in Santa Cruz. This fun event raises critical funds that support Big Brothers Big Sisters’ programs for at-risk youth in our county.
At the event, over 600 bowlers, 200 companies, 100 students and youth organizations, and 6,000 pledge sponsors are expected to be a part of our 30th anniversary. Our goal this year is to raise $104,000. All proceeds from Bowl For Kids’ Sake go directly to matching caring adult mentors with youth in our community. A majority of the children in our program live in single parent, low-income homes. The presence of a Big Brother or Big Sister, who provide friendship and guidance in a one-to-one mentoring relationship, improves a child’s self-esteem, school performance, and social skills. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Santa Cruz County has served over 4,500 youth in its 30 years of operation.
You can get involved by forming a team of five bowlers, bowling on an existing team, or by sponsoring a bowler. Each team member collects pledges to support Big Brothers Big Sisters youth mentoring programs. Individuals raising $120 will receive a t-shirt and raising above $250 will put them into the grab bag prize category. Teams raising above $1,000 will be eligible to enter the “Matchmaker Team” prize category.
