Section 3: Supplemental Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KWAV-FM and KIDD-AM

  1. Your Big ESPN Sports Break – DJ Search – October 20, 2013:  The radio station conducted an exhaustive six-week search for a local personality to full a position as host for a local sports talk show on ESPN 630.  The station used the opportunity to turn the process into a station promotion for ESPN 630.  The radio station recruited candidates using a schedule of newspaper ads in the Monterey County Weekly Newspaper; by advertising on the station website and by airing a schedule of announcements on the air.  The search culminated in live auditions at the Northridge Mall in Salinas where the public was invited to watch and participate. Employment applications were availalble to all candidates and those who showed up on the day of the live auditions.
  2. Monterey Peninsula College Job Fair – May 8, 2014:  Both KWAV and KIDD co-sponsored a community job fair at the local community college which attracted prospective employees from throughout the region.  Radio station management was on hand to conduct immediate interviews to assess candidate suitability for positions in sales, programming and as interns.

  1. Buckley Radio has an active internship program. Currently we have one intern from Pacific Collegiate
High School in Santa Cruz, Ca who works approximately 12 hours a week spending time in the sales,
Production, and Programming departments as well as Traffic management. Buckley’s internship
program provides real life experience in radio broadcasting.

        4.     On air announcements were broadcasted every month airing the following PSA that KWAV, KIDD and
are looking for organizations that regularly distribute information about employment opportunities
to job applicants or have job applicants to refer.  If your organization would like to receive notification of      job vacancies from our station, please notify the Business Manager at our office telephone number.  Also stating KWAV, KIDD and  are Equal Opportunity Employers and encourage minorities and females to apply.
