The 2013 Edition of the Monterey County Fair kicks off Labor Day weekend, August 28 - September 2, 2013. This year is an artichoke theme with the slogan "At the Heart of it All".
The 77th Annual Monterey County Fair is presenting its first ever International Day on Monday, Labor Day, September 2nd that celebrates all nations throughout the world. The Monterey County Fair will be open Noon – 10:00 PM.
In addition to a wide array of grounds entertainment, The Monterey County Pops! (formerly the Monterey Bay Symphony) will perform from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on the Payton Garden Stage The 15-member Brass/Percussion Section of Monterey County Pops! Includes a powerful ensemble of trumpets, french horns, trombones, euphonium, tuba, percussion and timpani conducted by Music Director, Dr. Carl Christensen, will present an outstanding musical program.
The 2013 Miss Oktoberfest will also be on hand that day, dressed in traditional lederhosen and dirndl.
The Monterey County Fair, to will be held Wednesday, August 28 through Monday, September 2, 2013, is open from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM from Wednesday – Thursday, from 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM on Friday, from Noon to 11:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, and from Noon to 10:00 PM on Monday. Fairgoers can park at Shoreline Community Church, 2500 Garden Road, from Wednesday-Friday at a cost of $5.00 per vehicle and take a free shuttle bus to the Fairgrounds. From Friday evening – Monday evening, fairgoers can park for $5.00 at Monterey Peninsula College with FREE transportation provided by Monterey Salinas Transit. The Monterey County Fair & Event Center is a premiere event site set on 22 oak-studded acres with ample parking located at 2004 Fairground Road in Monterey. It is a state-owned multi-use facility that features 4 large banquet rooms, 3 smaller meeting rooms, 2 outdoor concert venues, and a variety of outdoor and indoor cost-effective sites ideal for all types of events. It is home of the annual award-winning Monterey County Fair, host to many major and private events on the Central Coast, and the site of the Monterey Bay Race Place, a Satellite Wagering Facility. The Monterey County Fair & Event Center is the 7th District Agricultural Association of the State of California.
